Empty streets
bars
restaurants
schools
in some places.
Empty hearts
souls
minds
bodies
in some people.
Empty wallets
freezers
bank accounts
jobs
in some homes.
Empty trees
gardens
parks
oceans
in some lands.
Hollow. Abandoned. Barren. Vacant.
Where do we gather abundance?
When do we sow a fruitful harvest?
Who is filled?
What is overflowing?
We must look within; travel on a cellular, energetic level to see and feel the connection -
like blood pumping to muscles for relaxation.
And even the heart breaking and the tendons snapping.
Enough!
The ebb and flow.
When we go within, we travel to the depths of ego versus spirit.
We learn why the birds sing during the storms.
We learn why the trees shed their bark and perennials rest during dormancy.
It’s about growth and life and hope.
Even upon change and scarcity; the unknown and death -
there is hope.
Listen to the wind.
Feel the weight of gravity.
Look for the glow of the moon and rise of the sun –
we are sustained.
For it is the hope of each day in something more powerful than self that strengthens us, that moves us into
uncharted territory
With the power of a god or goddess or the flow of nature.
Chanting echoes of courage from ancestors long ago.
